Thank you for sharing your insightful post on the importance of prior knowledge in reading comprehension……..In my recent research on enhancing students' reading comprehension, I explored the use of technology as an engaging tool. Specifically, I incorporated augmented reality (AR) into the classroom setting, which appealed to the tech-savvy students. As part of the pre-reading stage, I asked students to use their mobile phones and AR to access relevant materials such as videos and related texts, including word definitions and concept explanations.

Before delving into the text, students were instructed to point their phone's camera at the title of the text, triggering the display of a related video. By watching the video, their prior knowledge was activated, enabling them to familiarize themselves with the topic and content of the text. They were then encouraged to share their understanding of the video, which served as a preparation for the subsequent reading. Consequently, after reading the passage, they had a better grasp of its content.
